BOOK AN APPOINTMENT
Call us on (03) 5630 8800
Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays) from 9 am to 5 pm.
We understand that your time is valuable, and we make every effort to run on time; however, emergencies occasionally occur that cause schedule delays. We apologise in advance if we keep you waiting.
Please remember to bring with you:
Your patient registration form if you are seeing us for the first time, haven’t seen us in a while (more than 12 months) or things have changed a lot since your last visit
Medicare, DVA (veteran affairs) and Private Health Insurance cards, if relevant
A referral from your General Practitioner or Specialist, if not sent prior
All pertinent x-ray scans, reports and test results from your General Practitioner or Specialist
A list of all medications that you are currently taking (or better still - bring them all with you)
A list of any known drug allergies and the symptoms you may have from taking these medicines
A copy of your operation report if you have had other surgery or endoscopy elsewhere.
At Gippsland Specialist Group, we strive to provide affordable world-class specialist health care to fellow Gippslanders, however please be aware that we are a private billing clinic and payment for non bulk billed consultations and procedures is expected on the day.
Unfortunately due to the increased costs of administration, we have been required to implement a nominal $20 fee if an account is taken. A minimal $20 or 5% administration fee per month (whichever is greater) applies to accounts more than 30 days overdue.
Cancellations
Please call on (03) 5630 8800 Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays) from 9 am to 5 pm and let us know at least 24 hours in advance so we can give that time to another patient also in need.
Due to the exceptionally high demand for our service, we have implemented a non attendance fee for patients who have not arrived and not given us advanced warning. This is set at the full fee for the consultation and of course, no Medicare rebate applies. In almost all cases there is a very good reason for this, in which case we will of course waive this fee, however this remains at our discretion.
After Hours Care
In an emergency please call 000.
For all emergency care West Gippsland Hospital (Warragul), Latrobe Regional Hospital (Traralgon), Gippsland Southern Health Service (Leongatha) and South Gippsland Hospital (Foster) are open 24 hours. All of our doctors are able to be contacted by the emergency departments if required when Gippsland Specialist Group patients present.
FEES
At Gippsland Specialist Group, we strive to provide affordable world-class specialist health care to fellow Gippslanders. We are transparent about our fees and if something doesn’t make sense or seem right - please ask us and we will be only too happy to provide more information.
A/Prof CHRIS MILLS
Chris strives to provide world-class specialist interventional gastroenterological practice to patients equitably, irrespective of their financial and social situation.
Chris has a strong belief that all people deserve the chance to be seen, listened to and have the opportunity for care by a world class specialist and expert endoscopist. Chris understands that COVID-19 has been difficult for patients and families which is reflected in his current fee structure, which is a significant discount compared to the Australian Medical Association (AMA) Fee.
Unfortunately, due to changes and reductions to the Medicare rebates, consultations can no longer be bulk billed for all patients, as the practice of interventional endoscopy is expensive and must remain viable.
No one will EVER be denied the opportunity for specialist care if they have financial hardship!
Please contact us on (03) 5630 8800 and we will be only too happy to provide more information about the fee structure.
Dr muhammed al-dulaimy
Muhammed provides extraordinary specialist care to fellow Gippslanders irrespective of their financial, social or geographical profile.
Muhammed understands that the options available for comprehensive and affordable specialist care are limited and strives to ensure that all patients have the opportunity to be seen and listened to.
As a result, all of Muhammed’s consultations are bulk billed - with no cost to you - ever!
Please contact us on (03) 5630 8800 and we will be only too happy to provide more information about the fee structure.
Endoscopy
We understand that the options available for gastroscopy, colonoscopy and other endoscopic procedures can be confusing. If you are in any doubt as to your options, please don’t hesitate to discuss this with your specialist or one of our friendly staff.
The cost and speed of access to endoscopic procedures differs as to whether you wish to be treated as a private or public patient, however please note that in keeping with our ethos of providing choice to Gippslanders, we offer procedures in both the private (whether you are insured or not) and the public system - our aim is to provide a service which best fits with your clinical need, urgency, convenience and budget.
Private Patients
GSG are proud to be ‘no gap’ providers to all health funds, meaning there is no cost to you from us for diagnostic endoscopy, irrespective of your insurer. We offer private endoscopy services with the following out of pocket fees:
Maryvale Private Hospital = $0
Neerim District Health Service = $0
All private patients can also elect to be treated at Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH - Traralgon) as private patients. This has the advantage that the hospital will pay any ‘out of pocket’ excess charged by your insurer, and as such the total cost of your procedure at LRH will always be provided to you FREE of any ‘out of pocket’ expense:
Latrobe Regional Hospital = $0 (no excess - ever)
Public Patients
As a patient of Gippsland Specialist Group, we believe irrespective of your means, you are entitled to world-class affordable endoscopy. As a consequence, public patients have the right to be treated FREE of any ‘out of pocket’ expense if they so choose:
Latrobe Regional Hospital = $0 (no excess - ever)
As a reminder, we do not require you to be insured to access endoscopy in a private hospital, however the costs of this are higher as an insurer is not there to pick up the bill.
The advantage of being treated in a private hospital is the faster access to endoscopy that can only be achieved in the private system. It is likely that in addition to our out of pocket fee, there will be a fee for the anaesthetist and hospital. However for a one off procedure, simply ‘self-funding’ your endoscopy will likely be far cheaper than ongoing private health insurance.
Fees differ according to the procedure, and we will always provide you with a quote and your consent for the procedure before proceeding - please ask us and we will be only too happy to provide more information.
